Never tried Dattes pie - Tarte aux dattes for a pie plate of 20 cm diameter, gives about 8-10 parts Ingredients (4 persons): - 1 filo dough round of 270 g - beans for 'blanc cooking' (white, yellow or other) or small pebbles. - 250 g dattes - 50 g pecan nuts - 100 g of ground almonds - 100 g of icing sugar - 3 soup spoon of 'orange flower water' - 2 egg's whites - 2 soup spoon of orange-mango marmelade Preparation: - Preheat the oven to 180 deg. place the daugh on the pie plate, cut off the extra border. Make holes on the bottom with a fork, cover with cooking paper, and place the beans or pebbles on top. Cook for 10 mn, remove from oven, remove the paper and the beans (pebbles). - Cut the dattes in 2 and remove the pits. Chop in rough pieces the pecan nuts, mix the almonds with the sugar, the water, the orange flower water et the egg whites. Spread this mixture on the dough, garnish with the dates, sprinkle with the nuts. Complete the cooking 10-12 mn in the oven. Warm the marmelade and smother the pie while still hot. Let cool. Hint: you can use other marmelade, like quince jelly or any other.
